Problem our client faced:

During phase 1 of DEL consultancy, STC consultants introduced check sheet and Pareto chart at floor level and found that hole problem in base is very prominent.

With team, we prioritized, factors like

• 2. Voltage
• 3. Electrode type
• 4. oven

Which tools were helpful:

Measurement system analysis and DOE were really helpful to identify main factors that contribute to the hole issue.
Electrode type were fixed and team stopped using oven before welding. Hence, team started seeing result.

Result:

‘Hole’ in cylinder reduced drastically.
